Gateway Business Nigeria has announced the successful completion of the first phase of its ambitious Wireless Broadband network roll out.Following the successful implementation of its award-winning AirLink and MetroLink wireless solutions in Lagos, Gateway Business has now extended its terrestrial network into Port Harcourt, Abuja, Ibadan, Kano, Aba, Enugu, Benin, Kaduna, Onshita and Warri.
Gateway Business’ coverage now extends to 11 states within Nigeria and the remaining 26 states will be connected in two further phases, beginning in 2011.
Gateway Business’ broadband now connects wirelessly providing high-speed ‘last mile’ connectivity to businesses in Nigeria.
It is already providing organisations with fast and secure broadband connectivity without interruptions or the potential risk of downtime associated with terrestrial “local loop” breakages. AirLink and MetroLink can be installed and activated quickly and is a cost effective terrestrial Internet or managed access solution.
Gateway Business has worked in conjunction with a variety of world class technology vendors including ECI Telecoms, Cisco, SAF and Cambridge Broadband Networks. These relationships ensured this impressive network rollout was across all 11 states on budget and on time. With the Gateway Business’Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) core now fully deployed across these 11 states in Nigeria, Gateway Business is well positioned to supply a variety of managed and hosted services to the corporate market.
Guy Clarke, Managing Director for Gateway Business Nigeria commented,
“We are committed to the vision of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to continue to drive downbroadband costs and promote network access and managed services for all businesses at affordable prices. With terabits of capacity landing on the shores via submarine cables it is an exciting time for Nigerian business. Gateway Business will continue to invest in the infrastructure that allows for better distribution of managed networks and hosted services throughout Nigeria and the African continent.”
