With over 250 branches and transaction centres, along with 600 ATM machines across Nigeria, Skye Bank needed wide area connectivity to ensure all its locations, including those in remote areas, were linked-up.
Gateway’s AfricaConnect and ATMconnect solutions provided the bank with high-speed pan-African broadband services including data services, Internet and VPN connectivity, using satellite-based IP communications technology. Gateway also installed AirLink™ service to provide secure, high-speed broadband.
These technologies let Skye Bank work in both metropolitan and rural areas where they couldn’t operate previously. Now the bank can communicate instantly with its branches all over Nigeria in real time, and customers have easy access to funds wherever they are.
As a result, the number of customers has grown significantly, allowing more people to open and access accounts anywhere in the country. And as Skye Bank’s international network grows they can also access their accounts abroad.
Mr. Segun Akintemi, General Manager, Operations and IT at Skye Bank PLC commented: “A large percentage of the Nigerian population still do not have access to a bank account. At Skye Bank we want to reverse this trend and Gateway’s services allow us to reach our customers wherever they are.”
